  1) What is the difference between an integral and a remote refrigeration system?

An integral system means it is a stand alone unit, with everything it needs to work built in.  It's quick, convenient and compact. Just plug in and go.

A remote system has the compressor, fan and other "hot, noisy bits" located away from thestorage cabinet or cold room and are connected by pipes.  A remote system resembles central heating in reverse - instead of heating radiators, insulated pipes carry the heat away from the cabinets and disperse it out the back.  This means it's quieter and cooler in operation at the point where it normally counts, more efficient and usually cheaper to run too.  However, it can be more complex to install and will need specialist engineers.

  2) What do F-Gases mean to you?

Under the Montreal Protocol, Ozone Depleting substances such as Refrigerant gases were strictly regulated. CFC refrigeration gases (e.g. R11, R12, R113, R114 & R115) have been banned completely since 2000, and the use of HCFC gases such as R22, in new air conditioning systems was banned from 2004, with no R22 system service work being permitted after 2010. If you have an R22 system that goes faulty after December 31st 2009, it will need to be replaced.

Under FGAS EC Regulations no 842/2006 all systems containing 3Kg or more or refrigerant gas must have an annual leak check.
